Every year, a number of fire departments and related organizations across the nation host junior firefighter and Explorer camps. The activities at each camp vary, but usually include a great deal of teamwork and learning what it takes to become a firefighter. If you or someone you know may be interested in attending one of the camps, you can find more information below by searching under your region.

Introduction to the Fire Service hosted by CT Fire Academy
Description: Participants must be 14-17 years of age and affiliated with a municipal fire department.
FASNY Youth Day
Description: Fire service activities and evolutions for Explorers, juniors, and RAMS age 14-19

Cold Spring, NY
Cold Spring Fire Company Junior Firefighter Academy
Description: A limit of 50 children ages 8-13 (grades 4-8) is in place. Preference is given to town residents
Junior Fire/EMS Leadership Challenge hosted by the Pennsylvania Fire and Emergency Services Institute (PFESI)
Participants must be between 16-17 years of age.

Description: This day camp lasts for 5 days and is only open to 7-10 year old children.

Minnesota Fire Exploring Conference
Description: Camp participants must be fire explorers.
Ohio Youth Fire & EMS Training Academy (OYFETA)
Description: The purpose of OYFETA is to help provide Explorers, junior firefighters, fire cadets, and other youth members of fire departments hone their skills and develop friendships that will last a lifetime!

Junior Firefighter Camp
Description: Camp participants must be ages 6-11.

Midwest Regional Explorer Fire Academy
Description: This camp is for explorer posts within the region.

Fire Science Career Exploration Camps
Description: These 4-day residential program consist of basic and advanced camps for young men and women ages 15-20 to explore careers in fire and emergency response services. New starting in 2009: female-only camp experience.
Green Bay, WI
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) Tech Camp
Description: Day camps that follow this schedule: Day one and two: 8:30 to 11:30am and Day three: 8:30 to 12:30pm.
Camps are available for students in grades 5-8.
Fire Cadet Camps
Description: Camps are open to children in K-5th grade.
Bell Buckle, TN
Fire Explorer Weekend
Description: Opportunity for all registered Fire and EMS Explorers, age 14- 20, to train at the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy.
St Petersburg Beach, FL
Hosted by the Florida State Firefighters Association
Description: The events are open to any group with a team of five to ten participants. Team costs are $200.00 per ten-person team. Hotel costs vary by the location of the event.

Venturing/Exploring Super Weekend hosted by the Central Florida Council, BSA
Description: This event involves two nights and three days of camping, interacting with youth groups from around central Florida, and some outside the area, and team and individual competition events. This is a great team-building camp and you have the opportunity to meet many different groups. The camp holds over 1200 people and there are currently about 600 participants. The cost this year was $27.00 per participant and occurs the second weekend in February.

Description: Naples Police and Fire Department runs two one-week academies during the summer. The target age range is 11-14. Monday-Friday 0800-1600. The child receives a t-shirt, hat, book bag, first aid kit, etc. (The program won the 2007 Florida Crime Prevention Association- Outstanding Program of the Year). Registration is open to the public.
Cost: $50 per child
Description: This camp is taught by real firefighters and children will learn what it takes to be a firefighter, including trying on real gear, and learning about home and fire safety. Camp is available for children from 4-5 years of age. Extended care until 5 p.m. is available for full-day campers only. The cost is an additional $20 per week. (Pre-registration is required)
Cost: $110 per child (EdVenture Members) or $130 per child (Non-members). The price includes a unique Camp EdVenture t-shirt!

Junior Firefighters’ Camp
Description: Camp consists of 3 separate classes that will run for 5 days from 8am-12 noon.
Enrollment is open to anyone from 9-13 years of age. Please note a limit of 30 kids/week.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Camp
Description: 5 days (day camp) for 50 students. Camp is free to those chosen to attend. The event is open to all youth, but residents within the fire district boundaries have first priority. Participants must be between 11-13 years of age.

Description: Participants must be a fire explorer.
Orange County, CA
Orange County Fire Explorer Academy
Description: The event will include housing for the week at Vanguard University. A limit of 53 explorers (must belong to an explorer post) is in place.
