National Junior Firefighter Program Web Site Wins Award

Just over one year ago, the NVFC’s National Junior Firefighter Program, through support from Spartan Motors, redesigned the program’s web site at www.nvfc.org/juniors. The web site was recently awarded the W3 Silver Award from the International Academy of the Visual Arts.

The new web site, which was developed by the David James Group marketing agency, features user-friendly tools and resources for junior firefighter programs and junior firefighters. The site features a more streamlined registration process, dedicated sections for departments and youth, and the program’s volunteer hour-tracking tool. NVFC Offers Training for Junior Firefighter Program Advisors

The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) has developed a four-hour workshop for junior firefighter program advisors and other department leadership. The Training the Next Generation Workshop is designed to enhance the skill set of fire department administration and junior firefighter program advisors in the leadership and management of their junior firefighter program.

Register Now for the National Junior Firefighter Academy at Scott Safety

Event includes facility tour, product demos, and training

Following successful events in 2011 and 2012, the NVFC’s National Junior Firefighter Program, Tyco, and Scott Safety have teamed up again to bring the National Junior Firefighter Academy back to North Carolina. The Academy will take place on Saturday, November 16, at the Scott Safety Headquarters in Monroe, NC.

NVFC to Offer In-Person and Online Workshop for Junior Firefighter Program Advisors

The National Volunteer Fire Council has developed a new four-hour training workshop for junior firefighter program advisors. The Training the Next Generation Workshop, developed through a Fire Prevention and Safety grant, will be offered on-site in three locations this fall. In addition, the course will be recorded in a series of webinars for junior program advisors nationwide to take at their convenience.

National Junior Firefighter Program Mobile Site Now Live

The NVFC’s National Junior Firefighter Program has launched a mobile version of its web site to make access to resources and tools more easily available on the go. The mobile site, which can be accessed by visiting www.nvfc.org/juniors from any smart phone, allows junior firefighters to log their volunteer hours and find a local program. Junior firefighter program advisors can view their juniors’ hours of service and find training resources for their department. The full site can still be accessed from a link on the mobile site.

Tyco Renews Support of National Junior Firefighter Program

Sponsorship provides Academy, awards, and more

Tyco has signed on to support the National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Program for the fifth year in a row. Through their support, the NVFC will continue to offer the Junior Firefighter of the Year and Junior Firefighter Program of the Year awards, hold two hands-on National Junior Firefighter Academies, provide additional tools for junior firefighter programs, and continue providing news updates through the Junior Firefighter E-news.
