Junior firefighter programs give youth the opportunity to learn about the fire service in a safe environment. Each year, you train the new recruits to use a hose, don PPE, use equipment, and more so that they will be ready to be firefighters and EMTs when they are old enough. Calendar theme aimed at youth and wildfire safety
The National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Firewise Communities Program has announced its 2015 Firewise Calendar art/photo contest and invites young artists, between the ages of 6-18, to submit their drawing or photo of a project that highlights wildfire safety or an activity/event that helps keep wildland firefighters safer. The deadline to submit artwork is June 2, 2014.read more »
The White House, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Weather Channel, and other national and regional organizations have announced the first PrepareAthon! national day of action. This campaign will take place April 30, and focuses on four specific hazards: tornadoes, wildfires, floods, and hurricanes.
