Sponsorship provides Academy, awards, and more

Tyco has been a key partner of the National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Program since 2009, and recently renewed their support for the coming year. Through their sponsorship, the NVFC will continue to offer the annual Junior Firefighter of the Year and Junior Firefighter Program of the Year awards, host a hands-on National Junior Firefighter Academy, provide additional tools for junior firefighter programs, and continue providing news updates through the Junior Firefighter E-news.

On Saturday, November 14, the NVFC will return to the Monroe, NC, headquarters of Scott Safety, a business unit of Tyco, to host the fifth annual National Junior Firefighter Academy. This one-day hands-on training event features drills such as confined space, thermal imaging cameras, a miniature Scott Combat Challenge, and more. The event is open to junior firefighters nationwide. Registration is full – click here to register for the waiting list; you will be notified if space becomes available.

In addition, the NVFC will again honor an outstanding junior firefighter and exemplary junior firefighter program through the Junior Firefighter of the Year and Junior Firefighter Program of the Year awards. The nomination period will open soon; stay tuned to www.nvfc.org/awards for details. The partnership with Tyco will also allow the NVFC to develop new resources and continue to offer existing tools for junior firefighters and their departments. Through Tyco’s support, juniors and program advisors will be able to stay updated on all these events, tools, and awards through the bi-monthly Junior Firefighter E-news.
